Chandigarh based immigration company WWICS penalised for unfair practices

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh based company Worldwide Immigration Services Private Limited (WWICS) has been pemalised by District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum and told to pay a penality of Rs.27,000 and refund an mount of Rs.2.50 lakhs for defiant services to a client.

Rohit Kumar a resident of Kharar has complained to Consumer forum that he had approached the company for preparing and submitting his application for immigration to Canada under skilled workers category. He paid Rs.50,000 to them in June 2012. He again paid USD 1300 in August same year and company signed an agreement with him. He was told that the category in which he wanted to apply has been closed and now he has to a state sponsored nominee programme-Nova Scotia Immigrant and earlier fee would be adjsuted in new programme.

Rohit said that he was made to sign two more agreements and he was charges another Rs.78652 along with US dollars 4400. He said that in May 2013 he was given an appointment letter which carried no signatures and stamp of issuing authority. He questioned the company for authenticity of document and demanded his money back. He said company paid him Rs.5.40 lakhs out of Rs.7.50 lakhs he had paid to them. The company maintained that as per agreement the amount not paid was not-refundable

The forum found that company was at fault and deficient in giving service. The forum directed WWICs to refund the balance amount and also pay Rs.20,000 pnelaity ebsides Rs.7000 litigation cost.
