One of three suspected accused in Rs 1.14 crore bank cash loot nabbed

Jalandhar, November 10, 2017: Hours after sensational daylight robbery of Rs 1.14 crore near Bhogpur, Jalandhar, the police achieved a breakthrough with the arrest of one of the three suspected robbers.

Robbery had taken place near Bhogpur, Jalandhar district

 The alleged accused has been identified as Ranjit Singh of village Lakhan Kalan, of Kapurthala district.

DIG Jalandhar Range, Jaskaran Singh told mediapersons that the accused was nabbed he tried to sped away when the Indica car, he was travelling in, was asked to stop at the checkpoint put up by the police in the wake of the robbery.

The police fired at him during the chase. He was overpowered after being hit by the bullet in his thigh and was taken to Sacred Heart hospital, Jalandhar for treatment.

The police also took the car used by him into custody.

After committing the robbery, the police had sealed entry and exit points in the district and launched extensive checking to nab the three motorcycle-borne accused.

The robbers had looted Rs 1.14 crore from the cash van of HDFC bank at gunpoint on Friday afternoon.

The police are looking for the remaining two accused.
