Ludhiana : Ludhiana MC Elections on January 7, notification of ward delimitation in next week. Amid the controversy of ward delimitation, the Municipal Corporation (MC) elections in Ludhiana were delayed and will be held on June 7. However the MC elections in Amritsar, Patiala and Jalandhar will be held in December. The delay in elections has left SAD-BJP and AAP- LIP worried and Congress leaders and aspirants for councilor ticket were in jubilant mood. The Congress leader believe that AAP will lose ground in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala and in January the graph of AAP-LIP alliance will also come down. In Ludhiana, AAP-LIP alliance was giving tough fight to ruling party and SAD-BJP. Moreover the Senior Congress leaders will camp in Ludhiana only in January.

The elections in Ludhiana were delayed after Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) MLAs Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains raised objections on ward delimitation draft. The Congress MLAs Rakesh Pandey and Bharat Bhushan Ashu developed differences during the meeting of ward delimitation over the appointment of Chairman of ward delimitation Committee few days ago. Ashu has proposed the name of Ishwarjot Singh Cheema which was opposed by MLA Rakesh Pandey. LIP MLAs Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains also raised objections and wanted to increase the wards in their constituencies according to population. As the ward delimitation was hanging, the government has decided to conduct the elections in January. Highly credible sources told that the elections will be held either on January 6 or 7.
