Jan 08, 2018-It is the political compulsion of the government allure the Dalits of the state to gain the huge vote bank, Punjab’s minister for welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes (SC/BC), Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said it on Monday. The class has large vote bank which contributes in the winning of any party.

Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, the party MLA from Nabha who has the reserved seat of SCs and also known of few dalit leaders in state said, “It’s a compulsion of the Congress too,”. He said it while addressing in the National SC-ST Hub conclave, which was organised by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) under the guidance of Union ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises to launch a scheme. This also encourage the SC/ST entrepreneurs to engage with public sector units.

While praising the Bhimrao Ambedkar, Dharamsot said, “Nobody allows Dalits to prosper. And we know how to fight our own battle”. As for the National SC-ST Hub scheme, it emphasised the public procurement policy, 2012, of the Union government which states that 20% of total procurement of goods and services by central ministries, departments and units shall be made from smaller enterprises, and 20% of that (4% of total) from those owned by SCs and STs.

He said the state government will leave no stone unturned in creating awareness about the scheme. “There is also need to provide free training, easy availability of loans to start the business, and marketing of products, so that SC/ST people can move forward in society.”
