Severe wind storm hits part of rural Ferozepur, no loss of life

Ferozepur, February 12, 2018: An unusually high-velocity whirlpool type wind storm lashed the rural parts of Talwandi Bhai area of Ferozepur district on Monday evening.

About 10 persons were reported injured

No loss of life has been reported but severe damage though in limited area was done to property including houses, vehicles and electricity poles.

There is no official word yet on the extent of damage caused by this sudden weather phenomenon which took the area residents by surprise and fear. 

The phenomenon is yet to be assessed by the weather experts.

A very high velocity storm has left destruction in village Shekhwan on Talwandi Zira road today evening. As per the information, there was a heavy loss in Guru Kirpa Agriculture Workshop. Its shed was blown away to a distance. The workers in the workshop were injured. The adjoining houses too got damaged. Its impact was so severe that that a tractor-trolley and a jeep were turned turtle.

Around 10 persons have been reported to be injured and according to Hardeep Singh, the owner of the workshop, the loss was quite high and its exact amount would be known later.

The situation in the area is tense due to this severe storm.  There is no official version available as neither DC nor SDM responded to phone calls.
