J&K KVIB holds workshop under NSSH at Ganderbal

Ganderbal, July 6: Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board today organised a workshop under National Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Hub (NSSH) scheme for Schedule caste Schedule Tribe MSMEs, here at Town Hall, Ganderbal.

“NSSH is a unique initiative launched by Prime Minister. This initiative is aimed empowering SC ST owned MSEs in order to achieve the 4% mandate of the Public Procurement Policy,” 

General Manager, District Industry Centre-Madam Bilkees Jan was the chief guest on the occasion; while as DyCEO J&K KVIB- Sh Muzaffar Alaqaband was guest of honour.

While appreciating the work and initiatives taken by J&K KVIB in uplifting downtrodden and underprivileged strata of the society, General Manager DIC requested participants of SC ST community to avail benefits of these schemes. She also asked line departments to work in unison for greater outreach.

Earlier, giving powerpoint presentation about NSSH scheme, DyCEO J&K KVIB said that the Government of India has formulated the Public Procurement Policy during 2012, which states that 20% of total procurement of goods and services by Central Ministries, Departments and CPSEs shall be made from MSMEs and 4% of such procurement shall be from SC & ST owned MSMEs.

"At present the total procurement of goods and services from SC/ST MSME units is less than 1 percent and this particular scheme is to improve the contribution percentage of the SC/ST MSME units,” said DyCEO, adding that owing to its best performance, J&K KVIB has been nominated as Nodal Agency.

“NSSH is a unique initiative launched by Prime Minister. This initiative is aimed empowering SC ST owned MSEs in order to achieve the 4% mandate of the Public Procurement Policy,” he said and added for the implementation of this scheme, J&K KVIB is organizing Skill development programmes, workshops, awareness programmes, exposure visit.

He said skill development and exposure visit will help SC/ST owned MSME units to improve their products.

Providing an insight about SFURTI, DyCEO said that J&K KVIB has established three clusters, which are in advanced stage. In these clusters, artisans will be provided all facilities under one roof.

Bee Keeping Officer Abid Alam shah said that a cluster programme at HMT for production, packing and marketing of the honey is also coming up shortly and raw material will also be provided at these Cluster centers.

Others present on the occasion included various district officers of J&k KVIB, director RSETI-Manzoor Hamdani, Lead District Manager-Riyaz Ahmad, FLCC Ganderbal- Mohd Maqbool, District coordinator JKEDI- Mohd Rafiq Mir, Assistant Director Handicraft- Mushtaq Ahmed Mir and other officers from line departments.
