Ashwani Kumar takes over as Vice Chancellor of State University of Performing and Visual Arts

Chandigarh Sept 1. Ashwani Kumar Sabharwal has taken over as Vice Chancellor of State University of Performing & Visual Arts, Rohtak. This university has been set up by the Haryana Government at a cost of Rs 300 crores, to promote Arts, Architecture, Design and Film TV in the State.

 Ar Ashwani Sabharwal graduated in Architecture from Chandigarh College of Architecture and also done Post Graduations in French and German languages. He is a former Chief Architect of State of Haryana. He is member of recognized professional bodies like Council of Architecture, Indian Institute of Architects, INTACH New Delhi and Fellow of Institution of Valuers, New Delhi.

He represented various committees/Boards like Chairman of Plan Advisory Committee, Chandigarh Administration, Director on Board of Directors of Haryana Tourism Corporation, Haryana Housing Board and Haryana Police Housing Corporation. He was also Member Executive Council of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology Murthal , Sonepat for two term.

He has won various awards and appreciation. In 2011 he was winner of Architect of the year Award by M/s J.K Cement Ltd. Certificate of Commendation was awarded by Chandigarh Administration for outstanding performance with utmost dedication to duty in 1991.

He has also written various papers. Design and text of Brochure released by the Governor of Punjab on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Chandigarh. Designed and concept of Booklet of Standard Designs of Buildings, published by Department of Architecture , Haryana in 2007, released by Chief Minister, Haryana.

He has handled various important projects in U.T. Chandigarh which includes Hotel Shivalikview,  Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology sector-26. In Haryana, Mini Secretariats at Panipat, Karnal, Kaithal, Judicial blocks (District Courts) at Karnal,  Panipat, Jhajjar, Faridabad etc. An important project undertaken was complete planning and design of BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya Khanpur Kalan Distt. Sonepat (the first all women University of North India).
